Northeast Ohio's winters have their ups and downs in terms of temps and sunshine, but one consistent bright spot has been Brite Winter Fest, a hot blast of winter fun that combines music, art and the great outdoors.

Founded and helmed by local artists for the past 15 years, the ironically-named Brite is back this year with three dozen acts on five stages in the Flats West Bank. It all goes down Saturday, Feb. 24 from 3 pm to midnight, and as usual there's a lot to check out. You can't go wrong for $12, which is about half the cost of a cover band these days.

Bonus: The weather is looking crisp and wintry this Saturday, so put on your hipster hat and come on down. Progressive Urban Real Estate has supported Brite as a bronze level sponsor for several years.

PURE's broker and co-owner David Sharkey is a big music fan, so we pulled together a list of his favorite acts this year. All the acts are good, though, so you really can't go wrong. We look forward to seeing you there.

Here are Dave's recs (or watch the video here).

The Baker's Basement (Duck Brand Art Tent, 3 pm): This Cleveland alternative folk duo promises music that's "both humorous and heart-wrenching." Playful interwoven vocals, garage band guitars, and a cool homemade bucket-drum kit.

E.Side4 (Buckeye Law Stage, 4:20 pm): Cleveland rapper who weaves "soulful vibes with raw authenticity." Brings together some really funky grooves and great lyrics in one single package.

Cory Grinder and the Playboy Scouts (Cleveland Scene Stage, 4:20 pm): Barroom honky tonk with a side of millennial sarcasm.

Kid Tigrrr (Duck Brand Art Tent, 4:50 pm): Holy shoegaze! Hypnotic and ethereal pop from Jenna Fournier, founder of Niights.

Big Hoke: Justin Gorski's been on the scene for decades, in rock bands and as founder of Dyngus Day. This is his foot stomping 12-piece Americana roots gig.

Anya Van Rose (West Bank Stage, 5:50 pm): This singer has a bubblegum sweet voice contrasted by some dark grungy guitars. Maybe that's why they call it "bubblegrunge"?

Lilieae (West Bank Stage, 7:50 pm): Female fronted rock band. Echoes of Paramore.

The Monday Program (Buckeye Law Stage, 9:20 pm): Artist Corey Grand created a space to bring musicians together to inspire each other. Check it (and him) out.
